Qatar Airways 2012 route expansion will also focus on Africa with three new routes planned for 2012. Kigali, together with Kenya’s second largest city and popular tourist centre of Mombasa, and the mystic spice island of Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean, will significantly boost the airline’s African network, where it already flies to 16 cities.
The Kigali route will be launched on 21 March 2012 , as Qatar Airways will extend its Doha Entebbe services to Kigali onboard an Airbus A320 aircraft. Other global routes to be launched by the Gulf carrier this year include Perth in Western Australia, the Finnish capital Helsinki, Croatia’s capital city of Zagreb, Gassim in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The airline expects to fly to 120 destinations by 2013.
